Therapeutic department

The Therapeutic department of Medical Institute “REAVIZ” implements educational programs of higher vocational education with a specialization in “General Medicine” – Code 040100/060101. The Department was opened in 1993.

Lectures and practical sessions in humanities and in social and economic subjects, in natural science, in mathematical, in biomedical subjects are conducted on training premises of the Institute, located at the address: 100, Chkalov street.

Lessons of physical culture are given on the stadium “Locomotive”: in a swimming pool and in gyms.

Sessions in vocational and specialized subjects are taught in medical clinics of the city which had signed agreements on the uncompensated use.

Forms of studying:

• – Full-time course
• – Extra-mural course
• – Individual form of studying. “One-to-one” tutorials are given or students join together to study certain subjects of their individual curriculums as parts of a fluctuating group of 2-3 people.

Training is conducted according to the State educational standard, which provides for studying of compulsory and elective courses of humanities, of social and economic subjects, of natural science, of mathematical and biomedical subjects, and also vocational and specialized subjects.

Lecturers of ten Chairs of the Institute teach students of the Therapeutic Department. Lecturers have all required methodological support for the teaching process (curriculums, study guides for lecturers and students, sets of tests, etc.).

In the process of training as a doctor it is very important for students to take part in an introductory internship, so after the second year of studying students work for 4 weeks as assistants of ward and medical treatment nurses. Students should become familiar with the medical procedures which are performed by practicing nurses in hospitals.

After the third year students of the Therapeutic Department work for 144 hours as assistants of an ambulance or an emergency nurse practitioner.

After the fourth year students act as clinical physicians for 216 hours. This introductory internship includes 72 hours of work in a unit for patients with internal diseases, 72 hours of work in a surgical unit and 72 hours of work in an obstetric unit.

The level of practical experience which students acquire in the introductory internship, in practical sessions in clinics and also during independent work (follow-up of a patient) is later assessed at the time of the State Final Certification of graduates.
